Bruce Kovacs, M.D.
President and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Kovacs is a founder of Afecta and co-inventor of several of our core technologies. He has held senior executive management positions at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, and University Healthcare Management, Inc., a national healthcare services company. He is certified in several medical specialties including Clinical Molecular Genetics.

Gary Snable
Vice President of Business Development
Gary was a founder of Layton BioScience, Inc., and served as Chief Executive Officer. Previously, he was Vice President of Marketing for InVitron and Chief Operating Officer for Fujisawa-SmithKline. He has over 40 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry and has been instrumental in bringing several new drug product lines to the market.

Joe Bollert, Ph.D.
Vice President of Clinical Development
Prior to joining Afecta, Dr. Bollert was a founder and Chief Executive Officer of Clinmark.com, an international on-line clinical research organization. He has over 20 years experience in managing clinical trials as an executive at the Institute for Biological Research and Development (IBRD). Prior to joining IBRD he held research positions at the Upjohn Company. His background research training is in Pharmacologic Toxicology.

Evan Siegle, Ph.D.
Vice President for Regulatory Affairs
Previously, Dr. Siegel served as Chief Executive Officer of OXO Chemie Inc. Prior to that he was Director of Regulatory Consulting Services and Principal Regulatory Scientist for Quintiles, Inc. in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Dr. Siegel has held positions as a Toxicology Reviewer at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and California Department of Health Services and, at the latter, was Chief of Special Services. He served in regulatory affairs and executive positions at Astra, Syntex, and Medical Science Systems, Inc.

Scott Meyer, C.P.A.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Meyer is a founder and senior partner of WhittakerMeyer, LLP, a leading financial services company in Southern California. Scott has experience in biotechnology start-ups and in financial management of larger organizations.

Yathi Naidu, Ph.D.
Director of Research and Development
Prior to joining Afecta's Research Group, Dr. Naidu held senior research positions in genomics at several organizations and companies including the University of Southern California, Northwestern University, University of Michigan, Harvard Medical School, Ventana Medical Systems Inc., BioGenex, Inc. and GenProbe, Inc.

Volker Nowotny, Ph.D.
Director of Informatics Technology
Dr. Nowotny's previous experience includes serving as Director of Genomic Computation for the Human Genome Project at Washington University in St. Louis. He was also a professor at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Germany. His business experience includes being a co-founder of DZ Genes, Inc. He has developed computational systems for Afecta's PolyGenX™ "pharmacogenetic fingerprinting" algorithms and State-Trait™ Analysis software.
